Hi, Robbie! I'll actually be 63 at the end of this month. Nice to see another grandparent here. Two of my grandkids are learning piano, but they have a year and a half head start on me. I've borrowed some of the kids books that they have outgrown. It's great that you and your grandson are challenging each other. Hope to see you posting here frequently.
They will help you with your fingering and speed on the keyboard. Fingering is very important as you would know from your guitar playing. Good luck and enjoy.
There are several good method books out there for adults. Because you took lessons for 10 years, you should be able to go through them really fast. Try either Bastien's, Alfred's or Fabers. If you look them up online, you can usually look at a couple of the pages to see what the music looks like. You might also want to get some "Easy Piano" sheet music to get yourself back in the groove. Knowing the notes is a great head start, I'm sure you will pick the rest up easily once you get started. Good luck!

I am in awe of anyone who can actually create music. I have all to do to play the notes in a Level 1 or Primer level song right now. Good luck with your composing. I would love to hear your pieces when they are ready. A lot of people record music on youtube. But you may want to get them copyrighted first.
Hi! I'm working from the Alfred's book too. I'm working on When the Saints go Marching In, first version. I like to have some fingering suggestions written on the sheet music too. I would try starting in C position and see if you can reach all or most of the keys. If you have to adjust, try a few different fingers and write the one that works best in for next time. Good luck. Of course, since you posted a month ago, you may already have solved this. Where are you in the Alfred book?
As a Level 1 player, I've downloaded all the level 1 and level 2 pieces. I can play a few of them easily, a few I can play but not smoothly, a few I can struggle through, and the rest I've put away for future use.

Thanks a lot for providing the sheet music, Chris. More Level 1's and 2's would be appreciated.
Hi, Dave. I guess from the date of your post this is not yet an active forum.

I'm playing an electronic keyboard too and won't be able to upgrade any time soon. But for a complete newbie, it's good enough to make me happy.
